John and Phyllis Skurla, founders/owners -John, after working for NCR since 1957, started Skurla’s Cash Register Co. in 1976, working alongside his wife, Phyllis. Together they shaped a top-notch local company that provides quality services and products for customers throughout Alaska. These days they enjoy retirement and their grandchildren.
Lynn Skurla, general manager – Lynn literally grew up in the family cash register business. At age 15, Lynn began working in her parents’ office, answering phones and programming cash registers. Aside from her duties as general manager, Lynn has been hands-on in every aspect of the business – selling, programming, installing, and supporting all types of systems, from cash registers and scales to inventory and bar/restaurant systems. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Retail Solutions Providers Association. Helping customers through marketing and cost control is her passion at work.
Adam Booth, technician/installer – Adam joined Skurla’s in March of 2011. He moved to Anchorage in Febuary of 2008 after living in Valdez, Alaska for a little over 20 years. He has extensive hardware, software and networking experience. He is passionate about solving problems and crafting custom solutions. Adam’s primary area of expertise is CounterPoint and other retail systems. He currently holds a CSCI (CounterPoint Systems Certified Installer) certification.
Jesse Dison III, senior programmer - Started with Skurla’s Cash Register Company in 1994. Most software came on floppy disk (for those of you that don’t know what that is, Google it), cash registers had 15 departments and not much else, and computer monitors weighed 100 pounds. He has worked mostly in the restaurant side of Point of Sale with MICROS, CRS, TEC and various other restaurant software and hardware. “It has been nice to work for a company that has kept up with the changing technology with how rapidly the industry has been changing. I am excited to see what will come next in the future of the hospitality industry.”
Thomas Greenman, service coordinator – Call Thomas when you need help with your system. He will make sure you talk to the right person to get the help you need. Thomas has a background in IT, networking and graphics. He has a passion for learning and it shows with his knowledge of many subjects. When he is not working, he is spending time with his wife and young daughter.
Tessa Lepley, office manager – Tessa has been a member of the Skurla’s team since May of 2010 and will help you with any of your supply orders, accounting questions, and shipping needs. She is a transplant from Portland, Oregon where she worked in the hospitality field with experience in restaurants, hotel management and executive suite operations. Tessa loves the Alaskan outdoors – so much so that she even jumped in Goose Lake in the winter to help a local charity.
Matt Lowe, account representative -Matt joined our team this year. His goal is to understand and exceed each client’s expectations. “Our success depends on your success.” You will find Matt visiting our customers and businesses around town and the state. He loves sharing Alaska’s outdoor experiences with his wife and two kids.
Iryna McCoskey, bookkeeper – When she is not taking care of our accounting and helping us keep our books straight, Iryna is designing and sewing fabulous fashion creations.
Jason Reopelle, technician/installer – Jason, a Connecticut native, comes to Skurla’s from Florida. He has eleven years’ computer experience and eight years in point-of-sale. He has helped sell and install retail systems to clients such as the Boston Red Sox, the Philadelphia Phillies and NASCAR, as well as a 1,200-terminal nationwide job site. He loves installing systems across the state of Alaska and has travelled to places such as Nome, Dillingham, Chevak, Quinhagak, Kwigillingok, Iliamna and is looking forward to adding more “pins” to his map of Alaska.
